Jake Phelps, RIP De Haro and 19th St, San Francisco 2016 by Tobin Yelland

I shot this photo of Jake Phelps for a Hype Beast magazine interview. De Haro and 19th Street in San Francisco, 2016. Jake was one of a kind — the editor of Thrasher for decades, a true believer in skateboarding until the very end. I worked with Jake at Concrete Jungle skate shop when I was fourteen.  I used a Leica M 240 with a 75mm lens. This photo was Jakes idea- I like the 60's Impala leading the way.  RIP Jake.
